The application of the law on employment and work of foreigners has started in Montenegro. The law came into force in April 2008, but the application was postponed until January 1, 2009.

The law on foreigners was expected, and employers and the state administration were given the time to prepare for the implementation of new legislative solutions. In the meantime, rulebooks on the way of issuing work permits and registration of foreigners were reached and they simplify the procedure in the interest of employers. A part of the obligations of employers will be taken over by employees in the Employment Office.
